ܘܕܘܝܕ ܩܫ ܘܣܒܥ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܗ ܘܐܩܝܡ ܠܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܒܪܗ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl el bmlkwth' brh lshlymwn w'qym ywmthh wsbe qsh wdwyd
Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

ܘܟܢܫ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܕܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܕܠܘ̈ܝܐ
wdlwy' dkhn' qshysh' klhwn wknsh
He gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

ܘܐܬܡܢܝܘ ܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܪ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܘܠܥܠ ܘܗܘܐ ܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܠܪܝܫ ܐܢܫ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܬܡܢܝܐ ܐ̈ܠܦܝܢ
'lpyn wthmny' thlthyn 'nsh lrysh dgbr' mnyn' whw' wlel shnyn thlthyn br mn lwy' w'thmnyw
The Levites were counted from thirty years old and upward; and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh’s house, six thousand were officers and judges,

ܘܐܩܝܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܘܝܕ ܠܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܒܫܘܠܛܢ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܠܘܝ ܓܪܫܘܢ ܘܩܗܬ ܘܡܪܪܝ

David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܫܡܥܝܐ ܣܠܡܘܬ ܘܚܙܐܝܠ ܘܐܪܢ ܬܠܬܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܪ̈ܫܝ ܐܒܗ̈ܬܐ ܕܫܡܥܝ
dshmey 'bhth' rshy hlyn thlth' w'rn wkhz'yl slmwth dshmey' bnwhy
The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers’ households of Ladan.

ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܫܡܥܝ ܢܚܬ ܙܒܝܕܐ ܝܥܘܫ ܒܪܝܥܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܫܡܥܝ ܐܪܒܥܐ
'rbe' dshmey bnwhy hlyn brye' yewsh zbyd' nkhth dshmey bnwhy
The sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

ܘܗܘܐ ܢܚܬ ܩܫܝܫܗ ܘܙܒܝܕܐ ܬܢܝܢܐ ܘܝܥܘܫ ܘܒܪܝܥܐ ܘܒܪܝܥܐ ܠܐ ܐܣܓܝ ܠܗ ܒܢ̈ܝܐ ܘܗܘܐ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܒܘܗܘܢ ܠܫܪܒܬܐ ܚܕܐ
khd' lshrbth' 'bwhwn lbyth whw' bny' lh 'sgy l' wbrye' wbrye' wyewsh thnyn' wzbyd' qshyshh nkhth whw'
Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah didn’t have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.

ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܩܗܬ ܥܡܪܡ ܘܝܨܗܪ ܘܚܒܪܘܢ ܘܥܙܘܐܝܠ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܐ

The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܥܡܪܡ ܐܗܪܘܢ ܘܡܘܫܐ ܘܐܬܓܒܝ ܐܗܪܘܢ ܠܡܫܡܫܘ ܒܩܕܘܫ ܩܘܕ̈ܫܐ ܗܘ ܘܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܠܡܩܪܒܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܛܪ̈ܘܩܐ ܕܒܣ̈ܡܐ ܠܡܫܡܫܘܬܗ ܘܠܡܒܪܟܘ ܒܫܡܗ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܥܠܡ

The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before Yahweh, to minister to him, and to bless in his name forever.

ܘܡܘܫܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܬܩܪܝ ܡܢ ܫܒܛܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܠܘܝ

But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.

ܘܗܘܘ ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܪܚܡܝܐ ܩܫܝܫܗ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܠܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܒܢ̈ܝܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ ܘܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܪܚܡܝܐ ܪܝܒܝ ܩܫܝܫܗ

The son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chief; and Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܥܙܐܝܠ ܡܝܟܐ ܩܫܝܫܗ ܫܘܚ ܬܢܝܢܐ

The sons of Uzziel: Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.

ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܡܪܪܝ ܡܚܠܝ ܘܡܘܫܝ ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܡܚܠܝ ܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܘܩܝܫ
wqysh 'lyezr dmkhly bnwhy wmwshy mkhly dmrry bnwhy
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

ܘܡܝܬ ܐܠܝܥܙܪ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܒܢ̈ܝܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܢ̈ܬܐ ܘܢܣܒܘ ܐܢ̈ܝܢ ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܩܝܫ ܕܕܗܝܢ
ddhyn dqysh bnwhy 'nyn wnsbw bnth' 'l' bny' lh hww wl' 'lyezr wmyth
Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only; and their relatives, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.

ܗܠܝܢ ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܠܘܝ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܒܗ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܪ̈ܝܫܝ ܐܒܗ̈ܬܐ ܠܡܢܝܢܗܘܢ ܒܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܫܡܗ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܠܪܝܫ ܐܢܫ ܩ̇ܝܡ̈ܝ ܥܠ ܥܒܝ̈ܕܬܐ ܕܡܬܒ̈ܥܝܢ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܒܪ ܥܣܪܝܢ ܫܢܝ̈ܢ ܘܠܥܠ
wlel shnyn esryn br mn dmry' bbythh dmthbeyn ebydth' el qymy 'nsh lrysh dshmhyhwn bmnyn' lmnynhwn 'bhth' ryshy 'bhyhwn lbyth dlwy bnwhy hlyn
These were the sons of Levi after their fathers’ houses, even the heads of the fathers’ houses of those who were counted individually, in the number of names by their polls, who did the work for the service of Yahweh’s house, from twenty years old and upward.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܘܝܕ ܕܐܢܝܚ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܥܡܗ ܘܫܪܐ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܡܟܝܠ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm wedm' mkyl b'wrshlm wshr' emh l'ysryl mrwth' mr' d'nykh dwyd d'mr mTl
For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people; and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.

ܘܐܦ ܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܗ̇ܢܘܢ ܢܫܩܠܘܢ ܡܫܟܢܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܥܒܝ̈ܕܬܗ
ebydthh m'ny wklhwn mshkn' nshqlwn hnwn lwy' w'p
Also the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.”

ܡܛܠ ܕܒܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܐܚܪ̈ܝܬܐ ܫܠܡ ܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܒ̈ܢܝ ܠܘܝ ܡܢ ܒܪ ܥܣܪܝܢ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܘܠܥܠ

For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were counted, from twenty years old and upward.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܩܝܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܗܪܘܢ ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܫܠܝܛܝܢ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܩ̇ܪܝܢ ܒܩܪ̈ܢܬܐ ܦܫܝ̈ܛܬܐ ܘܟܦܝ̈ܦܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܦܪ̈ܕܣܩܐ ܕܚܡ̇ܠܝܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' qwdsh' m'ny bhwn dkhmlyn prdsq' wel wkpypth' pshyTth' bqrnth' dqryn 'ylyn el dmry' bbythh shlyTyn dnhwwn 'hrwn bny gnb el 'nwn d'qym mTl
For their duty was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house—in the courts, in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

ܘܠܠܚܡܐ ܕܣܕܪ̈ܐ ܘܠܢܫܝܦܐ ܘܠܟܡ̈ܝܣܐ ܦܛܝܪ̈ܐ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܘܡܘܕܝܢ
wmwdyn dmshbkhyn wlkl pTyr' wlkmys' wlnshyp' dsdr' wllkhm'
for the show bread also, and for the fine flour for a meal offering, whether of unleavened wafers, or of that which is baked in the pan, or of that which is soaked, and for all measurements of quantity and size;

ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܩ̇ܝܡܝܢ ܒܟܘܠ ܨܦܪ ܘܨܦܪ ܘܡܘܕܝܢ ܘܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܦ ܒܟܠ ܪܡܫ ܘܪܡܫ

and to stand every morning to thank and praise Yahweh, and likewise in the evening;

ܘܠܡܣܩܘ ܥܠܘ̈ܬܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܒܫܒ̈ܐ ܘܒܪܝܫ ܝܪ̈ܚܐ ܘܒܥܐ̈ܕܐ ܒܡܢܝܢܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܙ̇ܕܩ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܡܝܢܐܝܬ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' qdm 'myn'yth lhwn dzdq 'yk bmnynhwn wbe'd' yrkh' wbrysh bshb' lmry' elwth' wlmsqw
and to offer all burnt offerings to Yahweh on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, in number according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before Yahweh;

ܢܗܘܘܢ ܢ̇ܛܪܝܢ ܡܛܪܬܐ ܕܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܡܫܟܢܐ ܘܡܐ̈ܢܝ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܢ̇ܛܪܝܢ ܡܛܪܬܐ ܕܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܗܪܘܢ ܐܚܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܡܬܒܥܝܢ ܠܡܫܡܫܘ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' bbythh lmshmshw dmthbeyn 'mthy 'khyhwn 'hrwn dbny mTrth' nTryn wnhwwn qwdsh' wm'ny mshkn' dm'ny mTrth' nTryn nhwwn
and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers for the service of Yahweh’s house.
